Fruit Loom CoolZone Briefs Argyle
My Old Chap PhotoGraphics Talk How cool is your cool zone.
Well it’s about time that someone came up some ideas to improve men’s underwear. It’s no surprise these innovations come from one of the big three names that dominate the product category. There are several reasons why I dislike wearing underwear and near the top of the list is lack of ventilation. Yes there are those brands that are all or mostly mesh but they’re not very durable and in some case they are actually uncomfortable. What we’ve always needed is to have built in air conditioning right at those places we need it most. These recognize that, at least partially, by sewing in a ventilated area at the pouch, which they do without sacrificing structural strength or comfort of the all important support area. Now if they would only do the same thing to ventilate the crack the same way.
REALITY
Other than the small mesh area these are very much just ordinary underwear that are 90% cotton and 10% polyester. They look, feel and fit like any other similar pair. Their claim that they don’t ride up seems to be accurate, of course everybody’s body is different so there are no guarantees they will fit you like they fit me. These share a common trait I’m seeing lately in that they ride very low on the hips, especially in the back. That’s not a problem for me, I’m not into showing off the label on the band.
So what about that mesh area? To me it looks and feels exactly like the rest of the shorts, and doesn’t really look like a mesh at all. The product label says that area is 94% cotton and 6% polyester, which isn’t a lot different from the rest of the fabric. So in other words, that advantage that I talked about of built in air conditioning seems more like marketing promises than anything that really makes a difference.
VALUE
Start by understanding that there are 29 different style choices of 5-packs here, available in either regular fly, Coolzone fly or traditional fly ranging in price from 9.99 to 49.99. That means every review you read may be for a different product. So to be clear, mine are the model they call “No Ride Up Boxer Brief Black/Gray Coolzone Fly Large”. That model goes for 14.99 for five boxers, or three bucks a pair. That is an exceptionally good value for name brand shorts and that is the main reason I like them. Would I buy them anyway if it wasn’t for the mesh feature – yes. Would I buy them only because of the mesh feature – no.
My Old Fellow EA say Super tight around legs: Unwearable!!!!.
I agree with all the recent reviews. The boxers themselves are comfortable but the band around the legs are prohibitively tight and make them unwearable. I am skinny and yet these bands are super tight, I cannot imagine what they must do to people with norma I am skinny and yet these bands are super tight, I cannot imagine what they must do to people who don’t have skinny legs. A complete disaster
My Old Neighbor S & T tell us Rough and uncomfortable.
The material is rough. Which I can deal with, it isn't why I gave it two stars. It's the "bands" around the thighs. They have very little stretch and flex. It's tight around my thighs and scratches/chaffs. It's hardly a band. It feels more like they just looped a string around.
Other than that the boxers are fine the rest of it is stretchy and fits. Don't buy unless you have chicken legs. Which still defeats the purpose of BOXER BRIEFS, it's meant to hug you snug without cutting your circulation. If I had went a size up it would've just been loose on my legs and elsewhere.
TLDR: The bands around the thighs have little stretch and will chaff your legs.
My Fellow Brent M. say Comfortable - but runs small.
I think they are comfortable, will probably buy more soon. I wear a 32 waist in Levi jeans, but I'm glad I got these in a LARGE. They fit perfect, but according to their size chart I should of gotten a medium. I'm sure a medium would of been too tight, especially in the thigh. The size large waist is perfect for me.
My Old Chap grampa yogi experience 3x my a@@.
the 3x must mean extra extra small. no good practice in labeling any more. be aware when and if you order these
My friend BFam Talk Runs very small.
Since I was on the smaller side of the XL I thought I would be fine. Not so. XL chart says 40-42 waist. Maybe if your legs are super slim. Just ill fitting all over. Maybe XXl would work. Not interested in finding out. Had to pop the seem around the legs to keep them from being super uncomfortable. They will soon find their way to the garbage.
My Fellow Elizabeth Hague Talk The accord of underwear is now an old Fiat.
I have been buying fol and Hanes boxer briefs for years, and have come to expect a certain level of ‘Honda Accord’ reliability from them- with an equal level of style (i.e. not much) I found these seem to reverse that trend by adding a different material in the crotch. I don’t understand how spending more money on crotch material has caused such short comings with the rest of the product! The waistlines have ALREADY begun to fray and loosen, and the legs seem to have been bound with a bungee cord, that seems too tight.... until it breaks, then the legs are way too loose. I really don’t get how colored crotch research could be so costly to a company, and make you forget how to make reliable underroos..... but it has. These are now more likened to a early 80s British sports car... barely interesting to look at, and may not even get you through your day, even when new.
My Old Fellow Amazon Customer tell us The leg bands are very small and don't flex with you..
To start this off, I wear anywhere from a 30"-33" waist depending on what it is I am wearing and who manufactures it.
Going by the size chart, I ordered a medium, which by the size charts should fit a waist size of 32"-34" which seems to be just a random number being used as each pair has a different fit on the waist. Each pair that I have worn has had a different fit on the waist and on the thigh.
The bands that are present on these are very uncomfortable. The first pair I had tried on had a relatively relaxed fit, both on the waist and thigh, but every subsequent one has had a different feeling. There is absolutely no stretch present on the waist band, which seems to be significantly smaller than what you would expect from the waist size. After wearing one pair of these for nearly an hour, I had to take them off due to a uncomfortable indentation I got from them riding up my legs and squeezing into my thighs.
The material feels very cheaply made. From just one touch, the underwear feels like a ragged old pair that has spent years going through washing machines and punishment. Overall, from just an hour of use, these boxers felt like they were already ready to be thrown away.
My Old Chap Dani Talk Great for women, too :).
I am a woman who is always stealing her husband’s boxers so I decided to finally buy my own pack. I am typically a woman’s small but I ordered up to a men’s large so they would be cozy. They fit pretty perfect- I was actually surprised at how small they were for a men’s large so definitely size up one or even two sizes. I was disappointed however- I’ve only worn two pairs and one of them ripped the first time wearing it. Not even really sure how it happened as I only slept in them. Oh well- hoping the other pairs last longer. I will update this review at a later date !
For women ordering: my numbers 5’7, ~150-155 lb, muscular body type, pants size 6
My Buddy Mae Hannah said Don't pick a specific color, because you wont end up with that one..
I took a screenshot of what I ordered so you can see why I am a little mad. I ordered these for my boyfriend, his favorite color is orange so I ordered the ones shown in the screenshot. The ones that came are green, grey, dark grey, and blue. (In different patterns, there are 5 in the pack) but another thing that bothers, I wasn't going to care about the color too much but now that I pulled one out of the pack, its damp, and smells very odd. I'm hoping that the smell washes out, and that they get softer after washing, because they are not soft. On the front there is a hole for you to ""feel the softness" and they are not as soft as I would want for underwear. I'm hoping my boyfriend still likes them.
