Nalgene Tritan BPA Free Bottle Cerulean
My Old Fellow Rohit said Great for mountaineering where water can freeze.
I got this bottle when I was planning to do a summit attempt to Mount Rainer. I already had one which I sparingly used, but for this trip I needed 2 32oz ones. So I got this additional one. For purpose of mountaineering I need following:-
- Large mouth so that even if it freezes a little , it still allows you to drink from it. Also easier to clean.
- Use for keeping warm inside the sleeping bag after filling with hot water.
- BPA free for obvious.
- No leak since I need to put this inside my backpack.
Overall it met all the criteria's below. At summit, 50% of the water was frozen but I was still able to use it without any issues. These bottle are durable, I even kept these in my check in backpack while taking the flight. No issues what so ever. The marking can be useful if you want to break it down. We took 5 breaks from camp Muir to summit and I was able to manage the intake considering 64 oz and tried to drink the appropriate amount using the markings. Also I did not feel any difference in taste keeping the water for longer duration. I will report back if I observe any more features or faults with this.

My Old Man Franchesca say Just buy one! No, two!.
I've bought about 7 different water bottles over the past couple years: Rubbermaid, S'well, Contigo, Living Solutions, so many! My favorite for the longest time was this $4.99 bottle from Duane Reade called the Living Solutions Tritan bottle. It was a beautiful size, held around 26oz, and I loved the built-in loop. Well, they stopped selling them all of a sudden and whatever was left went on clearance for half price. At the time, I was naive and just went with the color I liked most, not knowing they would never be seen again. But in the words of Dr. Seuss, I should be happy it happened in the first place.
So when the loop on that bottle broke in a freak accident involving a rogue suitcase, I bought about three different kinds of bottles from Amazon in the span of 2 months. The closest I found to my former love was the Contigo Tranquil bottle, but it was so puny by comparison and had this weird half-opening, silicon sleeve thing that just made me sad.
Then, out of nowhere, my dad asked to use my Prime to order a water bottle he could take to work. He's a doctor with long shifts and a lack of proper water fountains at his full-time job, so he needed something with a large capacity. We searched for a couple minutes and decided on a Nalgene. Well, I loved the bottle more than he did and I took it any chance I got, particularly on the weekends when he went to the part-time hospital with free water and had no need to bring water from home. After a week or two of my debauchery, I ordered my own, and I LOVE it.
Sure, it makes you pee 2-3 times more than you normally would in a day. Sure, drinking two of these a day is the equivalent of a half-gallon of fluid. Sure, it's easy to spill some water on yourself when you get a little too excited. But if you're like me and love to be hydrated throughout the day and usually spill water on yourself everyday anyway no matter what bottle you use, I HIGHLY recommend this brand.
My Old Chap amznbuyer Talk 8 YEARS later and I'm buying another one.
I've used my wide mouthed Nalgene for EIGHT years, every day at every job I've had. We were inseparable. All the lunches we had together, the late nights, early mornings, fears of bosses, laughing at co-workers...ah the joys we had together. I didn't even treat it that well, dropping it on concrete, down stairs, throwing it in my car, and not a single leak. One time I threw it in my car without the lid on all the way, and it reminded me gently with spilled water that I needed to tighten the lid. I've left it behind almost everywhere, but we always found each other. Until one work meeting, left it in the conference room. I'm guessing someone grew quite jealous of our affection, and swiped it! NOO! Truly an end of an era. There really was a connection here. Well 8 years of daily use later is a good enough review for me to come back and buy the same water bottle. :)
My Buddy Jojo say 5/7.
I'll start off by saying that I've been using my Nalgene bottle daily for about 3 months. I've only put water in this bottle, and I only handwash it. I'm too much of a fan of the oz/mL label to throw it in the dishwasher. I imagine it would come off easily, and I like to see how much I'm actually drinking throughout the day.
I've dropped this bad boy on concrete a few times, so yeah he'll get some scratches easy-peasy. But no cracks thus far, nor have there been any leaks. Also, the wide mouth is nice for when I want to put ice in my water.
The major thing about this bottle is the cap attachement. I like how the plastic cap is attached to another piece of plastic which wraps around the "neck" of the bottle to keep the cap from rolling away, but that loop is definitely NOT a place to hold it from. I used to hang on to the loop while doing my daily activities, but I noticed it was becoming loose. Since then I've stopped, and everything has stayed in shape. I know other people got to the point of that breaking off.
Other than that, I really like this bottle for the price. It's big enough to where I don't need to be refilling it constantly, but also at the right size to fit in my bag when I'm on the go. Its mere presence works wonders of reminding me to drink water since the blue color I got somehow makes water look... appetizing?
ANYWAY... My suggestion to you, potential buyer of this particular Nalgene bottle, is to prepare yourself to transport this BPA free container by the body and handwash it as much as your annoyance of germs goes. But most importantly, stay hydrated.
My Old Man Ana Bez say One night my friends and I decide to go at 3am to take pictures of each other in a nice part of campus because the party is dead.
About Glow Feature:
Who doesn't want a glow in the dark bottle and for those of you wondering if this thing glows in the dark, allow me to offer an anecdote: I couldn't figure out where I had misplaced my bottle and was upset. One night my friends and I decide to go at 3am to take pictures of each other in a nice part of campus because the party is dead. As I sat in the darkness of the backseat I noticed a green glow out of the corner of my eye. This bottle isn't a flashlight, but it is very recognizable if you're disorganized and lose things easily (BONUS: Easy to find when you're half asleep and trying to find water in the dark because you're a mess who doesn't hydrate properly).
About Size:
One last thing is that this bottle (the 1000ml) is great for measuring water intake if you suck at keeping yourself drinking a healthy amount of water. One of these 1000ml bottles is roughly 1/4th of a gallon (in case ya don't feel like googling that). This bottle is also very easy to carry around, although at a glance it may not seem so, especially because of the plastic linking the bottle to the cap being so easy and comfortable to hook your fingers into.
About Durability:
This brand in incredibly durable and I am one heck of a person so naturally this bottle has really been tested by my lack of organization and coordination. When I set out to find a bottle the most important thing for me was durability because I constantly drop everything in my hands 100 times a day and have broken almost every bottle I have ever owned. This bottle is tough and seriously deserved 5 stars on durability.
About my 5 Stars:
All-in-all I am not a pretentious homie who genuinely thinks that this is the water bottle of my dreams. 100% can't live without and wouldn't want to. Also 100% not exaggerating. This line of water bottles in fantastic (yes this refers to the non glow in the dark bottles) and my absolute favorite for having easy access to copious amounts of fluids.
100% recommend. 100% love this brand's bottles.
My Buddy Nicholas tell us 2 years of heavy use and it is still going strong!.
Adding my review here because most people seem to review after 3-5 months of use. I'm posting a review after 2 years of heavy use!
The bottle has successfully survived both hot and cold temperatures for me (from the desert (110F) to cold Alaskan weather (-20F). It is able to handle boiled water well and has been used as a sleeping bag warmer as it lets off heat just slow enough to keep me nice and warm as I fall asleep during sub zero temperatures.
As far as durability, the bottle will last you a very long time if you use it in non-gritty environments. I've used the bottle at home, at work and even at the gym and there wasn't any wear and tear. However, I've also used it while riding dune buggies, going hiking, doing mud runs, outside rock climbing, accidentally dropping it from a car, etc. It has survived all conditions and is holding strong, albeit all the dings and scratches (which are expected). I have never had an accidental leak either. The cap has been airtight, but shows significant wear and tear. The only real issue I've had was the aesthetical aspect, but given what I've put it through, I guess that is expected. Specifically, my bottle shows heavy wear and tear, specifically the measurement marks are completely warn off.
Other than that, I was specifically seeking a larger water bottle, so 32 ounces were perfect (38 ounces filled to the brim). Drinking 2.5 of these a day gets you your daily recommended water intake. It also has a surprisingly comfortable grip given its size. Given that, I might have even opted or the taller one that can hold more water.
Finally, this water bottle doesn't affect the taste of the liquid at all. I've used it with RO water, tap water, river water, etc. The taste is as good as it was before. Given the larger cap size, it is fairly easy to clean!
My Buddy Earthstar Talk Used for organizing and storing dry goods.
I have used mason jars to store dry goods for years but as I make preparations to travel I had to find another way. Mason jars are heavy and break. These bottles may be the answer. I had been storing dog food and granola in wide mouth water bottles for camping and it worked well.
My Old Neighbor CK M tell us Perfect for my needs.
I've become somewhat of a gym rat, so this water bottle has been really good to me.
PROS (in order of importance)
1. The opening is wide, which makes cleaning easy. I use scrubs that are designed to help you wash baby bottles, and they work beautifully on my new Nalgene. (My old one -- a tall, stainless steel one with a tiny opening -- was impossible to wash, and I thought I saw something growing at the bottom but couldn't see clearly enough to be sure. You can bet that I tossed it out immediately)
2. It's HUGE. I've always been really conscious about staying hydrated, so I'm all about its capacity (32 ounces). Also, I've become a gym rat, so I needed a bottle that could hold a hefty amount of liquid.
2a. It comes with an indicator that tells you how much (both in milliliters and fluid ounces) you have inside the bottle at any given time. I don't pay this particular attention because I just fill this bottle up to its capacity and drink the water, but I suppose it can be helpful for those who are really careful about their portions or those who want to use it to get their proportions for lemonade or energy powders right.
3. It's SO durable. (I love it, I love it, I love it.) I'm really clumsy, and I tend to drop things. But my new bottle has been a champ when it comes to rolling with the punches.
4. You can customize yours by color. I got mine in Trout Green, which I love (though why would you call it such an unappealing name?). It's not really green at all -- it's more like a teal, maybe? I'm obsessed with it.
5. It's easy to open. Again, I'm a gym rat now, and this is important to me.
6. You can get the "Nalgene Easy Sipper" if you're a klutz like me. This helps to restrict how much water you can spill on yourself in one go, haha.
CONS
1. Admittedly, it's a bit bulky and won't fit in most (if any) cup holders. I usually just toss it into the passenger seat. Also, you're better off holding this rather than trying to stuff it in a bag, especially since it can move around in your tote bag or backpack and jut out against your body. BUT if you're like me, you can also just take some paracord and make an easy wrist strap for yourself (which you can then hook onto your tote bag with a carabineer).
2. There's disagreement over whether or not the plastic used to make a Nalgene can be harmful if left in the sun. But my countermeasure is to not leave it in the sun, DUH. I mean, this is kind of common sense for all of the things that people drink, right? (I mean, who's trying to drink chunky, sun-warmed milk or sun-baked water? I'll leave my bottle under the shade or cover it with a jacket, thanks.)
My friend Sunny experience Really dim glow and doesn't last long..
This review is for the glow-in-the-dark Nalgene bottle. The glow feature sucks. It doesn't glow very bright except for 1 second after you shine a UV light at it for a while. After that it will glow dimly for a few minutes before fading to dark, same goes for charging it with a regular light, it glows dimly for a few minutes before it fades. If you're looking for a water bottle you can use for camping that you can easily find in the dark without a flashlight or use at home at night so you can find your water without a light source, this is definitely not the product for you. I bought the bottle thinking I can use it for these purposes, but it didn't live up to it. Calling this a glow-in-the-dark bottle is just really misleading.
My Old Chap collegerepeat tell us A funny thing about water.
I carry this thing literally everywhere I go. A funny thing about water: if it's in front of me, I'll drink it. Since this guy holds a whole liter of water, I drink several liters a day! I used to be chronically dehydrated, never drinking water because it wasn't staring me in the face. This has been such an awesome change-maker in my life. Plus, there's nothing as classic as a Nalgene.
I personally prefer the widemouth, having previously carried around a camelbak that only turned me off of drinking water. The weird straw on the camelbak, which you have to bite, just felt germy and gross all the time. I couldn't get the thing clean enough. The widemouth Nalgene is a nice change because I can easily get scrubbrushes and sponges in there and clean the bottle out really well. This is especially nice as I often like to make smoothies and take them to class with me during the day. The Nalgene holds a ton of smoothie and there's no problem getting it clean, even after a smoothie.
