Good day,

I am testing & reviewing more than 50 different brand of routers ( stand alone & mesh) for years, and I can tell y'all that IF you have maximum of 1500 Sq ft of house/apartment, that's newly built & no basement, just get a stand alone tri-band router, that has 4-5 stars review.

If your place is more than 1500 sq ft. with basement, old, lots of hard walls, etc... then get a MESH router that is:

* Tri-band (NOT Dual-band), why? So you will get the speed you're paying for, every month
* A router & satellite that has 6 or more antenna, as it will not just cover more, but it can see you 360 degrees
* WiFi 5 or Wifi 6 (especially IF you have more than 25 devices connected, all the time)
* Have a history of updating the software 5-6 times a year
* Giving a free security suite, not for just a one month, but for a year or forever

And ALL those important things I just said, this router doesn't have!

DO NOT LISTEN to people will say, it's OK for those who have lower than 200Mbps connection, WRONG! Why? Because that 200Mbps is only when you're hardwired, but when you connect ANY of your devices to this EERO, the speed you will get is only half of that OR most of the time, even you're near the router/satellite, you will only get 1/4 of 200Mbps.

I tested ALL known Tri Band Mesh Router, and they are much faster than ANY Dual Band Mesh router, any day.

So, when you are paying for 200Mbps internet speed, and you're using like a Netgear ORBI RBK53, that speed will be almost in every corners of your place, even outside (front and back patio).

ALL these manufacturers CAN give us those 5 points I just said between $200 - 300 (for 3 pcs.), but they just don't like to, as I've seen SALE prices of Netgear Orbi RBK53 (3 pcs.) for just $300.

We should NOT buy those DUAL BAND MESH ROUTER, so they will change it to a much better hardware and software and NOT charge us for a obsolete technology, an arm and a leg.

I have now the Amazon made EERO, and I'm paying for Spectrum Gig speed, and the fastest I can get is 400Mbps (LITERALLY NEAR the Main router), but with Deco M9, Orbi, Zyxel, etc... Tri Band Mesh Router & ALL stand alone Tri Band routers, I can reach 700-800Mbps in the same location & devices.

And y'all will say, those are expensives, NOT REALLY, as I've seen Deco M9 with 3 pcs. for only $230 at Costco, etc... and many others brand that can give you a much faster speed and wider coverage, between $250 - $350.

Again, DO NOT BELIEVE on the LIES of those will say, dual band MESH router is OK, bla bla bla...

I personally showed to people the difference (when I uninstalled/installed the Amazon EERO vs Netgear ORBI using NOTE 10 Plus, iPad Pro 11 & Surface Book 2) of the speedtest results, for almost the same price, but the ORBI can reach 800Mbps & EERO with only 400Mbps wirelessly, so how much more when you're paying for 200Mbps or 100Mbps? Then that Amazon EERO will only give you 100Mbps or 50Mbps wirelessly, almost anywhere your place, unlike MOST Tri-Band Mesh Routers, they can still give you 200 or 100Mbps...

Save your money, and just get WIFI 5 or WIFI 6, that's TRI BAND MESH ROUTER.

Running Fios we have amazing up and down from the router however the WiFi coverage in our raised ranch was less than amazing. Average speeds over WiFi on the opposite end of the house or even 2 rooms away was 10mps.
Ordered the new Eero system the day after launch and received a day later.
Running a smart home with 46 connected devices I was cautious.
Took down the existing WiFi.
Placed the router into ethernet only.
Connected the first Eero
Cloned the SSID on the Eero (used the same name and password)
Updated the Eero and within 2 min all devices had connected.
Deployed the second in the bedroom and the third in the basement under the bedroom.
Speeds are 78-80mps on the far sides of the house and 80-100 in the main open space.
Total setup time was 30 min including moving a few things, running updates and setting up the account.
ALL of my devices connected back to the network with no issues even the more frustrating smart home devices that only use 2.5ghz. All working almost instantly.
No rebooting of any connected devices was needed. Sonos, Apple TV, Hue, Switches, Mac's, Nest Cameras, Wyze Cameras and sensors, Google Home all connected effortlessly
This is the budged friendly solution you are looking for.

EERO devices rock and work great. You can hardwire or not, and when you do, the speed to each beacon is absurdly fast. The guy worried about being spied on is nuts...he's already being spied on. Go eero and get rid of crappy wifi or the xfinity box or linksys or any single router. 3-pack covers your house right.

My Old Neighbor SD say Disappointed!.

I am staying two feet away from the device in the hollway.... still shows that I am connected to the device on the second floor. No wonder the signal is weak!
Needs improvements big time! My Ring security cameras also experience "blackouts" from time to time.

Our house has 3 floors plus basement, approx 5000 sq ft, built in 1893 with plaster walls and other WiFi enemies common to old houses. Family of 6 lived with weak and spotty WiFi for years. Finally fed up, I tried the Eero 3 pack. Extremely satisfied! Solid WiFi in every room on every floor including front porch and backyard. Spectrum 200 MB into modem. WIFI speeds range from 50-200 MB based on distance from nearest Eero unit. Easy set up in 20 minutes. Great customer service before and after purchase (helped with echo multi-room musc set up issue). 25+ devices connected. Easy to use app for guest access, security and family profiles. Best decision ever.

Did you resist getting an Alexa because you don't like the idea of a device listening to all your conversations, assembling profiles of you and reporting on your activities?
I bought this because I wanted an easy system of wireless routers to cover our home, but a quick look at the privacy policy I was asked to sign by the Eero app was frightening! This is not just a wireless router, will be assembling profiles of your family's activities!

Here are a few key excerpts.

They will collect "family profile names, device hostnames, firmware data, Application clickstream, WiFi channel usage information, types of connected devices, the association of devices with a specific family profile, and WiFi signals from other WiFi systems in the area"

They collect "your mobile device’s unique device ID number and manufacturer, MAC address, hostname, IP addresses, and how you use the Application(s)"

If they make any (even ineffective) attempt to anonymize your data then they say they "reserve the right to use Anonymous Data for other purpose and disclose Anonymous Data to third parties in our sole discretion."

They really can share anything you send over the network with others, specifically they claim they could "share some or all of your Personal Data in connection with or during negotiation of any business transaction, including merger, acquisition or dissolution, transaction or proceeding involving sale, transfer, divestiture, or disclosure of all or a portion of our business or assets."

They are linking to "marketing tools such as Facebook's Custom Audience Lookalike Audience program that enables us to display personalized ads to consumers with characteristics similar to those of our existing eero customers". Facebook's Custom Audience tool has been used for some seriously bad ways.

If you try to opt out, this is what happens: "You may request deletion of your Personal Data by us, and we will use commercially reasonable efforts to honor your request, but please note that you will not be able to use your eero Devices if we have deleted the Personal Data in your Account."

If resisted Alexa because a device monitoring your conversations and reporting on them all the time is too creepy, them say no to this device too. It is doing the same thing for any conversation or activity you do over the network which for many of us is even more invasive than the audio conversations we have.

This is coming from someone who teaches computer networking in college.

Do yourself (and the world) a favor and vote with your feet and wallet.

Get a wireless router that will just pass your packets from place to place and mind its own business otherwise!

EERO who? Oh, an Amazon company. Cool! They must be good.

Bought six of these units (two 3-packs) to improve on my 10 year old Apple AirPort setup. Each EERO unit is hardwired back to a Cisco Switch that is connected to a reliable 80Mbps CenturyLink DSL Modem.

To be fair, the EERO setup experience went very well. Added the first, then the second...etc.

After setup, the app and functionality was really fussy. Blank screens, unresponsive, unknown errors, disconnected EERO units, reboots. I posted receipts!

The wifi performance was abysmal. The very iMac I am writing this review on is 5 ft (clear line of sight) from the EERO unit it's connected to and it still takes 30 seconds for a webpage to load. When I connect the iMac to the very hardwire serving the EERO a webpage loads in less than one second. That's about as black and white a test as you can do.

The irony of having to bypass a crapy wifi system in order to be able to write a review about that wifi system is legion.

Support? In my mind, it's 2019 and if you need to contact support for a residential WiFi system (a 30 year old technology) then you bought the wrong WiFi system.

Back to the 10 year old Apple Airports for me. They work!

Buyer beware on this EERO crap.

My Old Man Evita experience Easy to use if you’re not a tech person!!.

Just received my eero. Unboxing and setup were easy and simple. I had the eero pro, but with the latest release, transitioning to the latest eero was a breeze. Kept the same network name and password, updating devises were a breeze. The eero is more compact but thicker in height. I love how each eero device allows for 2 Ethernet connection. I currently have two eeros connected in my house (cheaper to get the 3 pkg because I’m moving to a new apt).

I have no complaint as of yet and hopefully i will not in the future.

Fast delivery too...next day to be exact.

My Fellow AJ experience Fantastic WiFi.

The new Erro system is fantastic. I ordered, received, and installed the 3 pack. Some background, I have ATT fiber 1000 with the supplied BGW-210 residential gateway. I also have each of my eero's hardwired for dedicated backhaul which makes a BIG difference in WiFi speeds.

Some comparisons (all done with my iPhone X)

Non-hardwired backhual speed test: 192MB down/160MB up.
Wired backhual speed test: 395MB down/362MB up

I did various tests connected to various erros, above is my overall rounded agerage combining all the tests and erro connections thourgh out the house.

As you can see, having the wired backhaul helps as it clears up the 2.4 and 5 GHz for device use only, i.e. not sharing the signal for backhaul. If you can hardwire backhaul I highly recommened it.

Setup was simple using the eero app, this could not be easier. I have my ATT residential gateway in IP-Passthough mode passing my WAN IP to the main erro, and have turned off the ATT gateways firewall, packet filtering, and WiFi; this preventing double nat.

I was skeptical at first, seeing as how erro was previous $300-$500 depending on which setup was purchased, and did not want the wireless beacons since they have to ethernet ports (i.e. no wired backhaul), glad I waited and purchased the new erro 3 pack.

My Fellow Randolph Wang say Cannot turn off DHCP or assign LAN side IP address.

I can only give eero a 3 star because it’s router functionality is very limited. Like everyone else, I purchased eero to replace my Wi-Fi router because the router does not cover the entire house.

I suppose to be able to replace my router with the eero but you will be disappointed if your network is a little more complicated than normal.

Two big problems: First, you cannot turn off DHCP in eero. Second, you cannot change the LAN side IP address of the device. It must be 192.168.4.1.

What is the problem with that? If you have a complete network setup, you are stuck. I have my own DNS and DHCP servers. I don’t want eero to act in these roles. I don’t want to change my network IPs to 192.168.4.x because I have NAS & servers on the network with fix IPs.

The only way to use eero in this kind of environment is to put it in Bridge mode. In that mode, eero will act as your Wi-Fi provider only. You still need to keep your existing router and turn off the router’s Wi-Fi.

If eero advertise it can act like a router, it should provide all the features of a router.

If you have a simple network, eero will work. Just be aware of this short coming.
