Adapter Charger Microsoft Surface Charging
My Old Man crimsonfalcon07 tell us Excellent affordable replacement Surface Pro charger.
I saw an ad for this company and thought it would be worth checking out replacement chargers for my Surface Pro 4, because the proprietary charger is both expensive (when I bought my Surface Pro 4, they ran 99.99, although they now are *only* 79.99 and can occasionally be on sale for as low as 59.99), and also fragile. The junction between the wire and the magnetic charging interface can fray and stop working, and is naturally a high stress area, so, especially if you use your device on the go (which is extremely likely for a Surface device), you are likely to have the charger wear out over time, and the factory charger is pretty expensive to replace, since there aren't a lot of replacement chargers available.
Egoway's charger is only 29.99 as of time of writing, which made it a reasonable bet at less than half the price of the Microsoft charger, and I was pleased to see that they advertise the wattage and amperage, so you know that it won't damage your tablet. The Egoway charger has all the same features as the stock charger, including the USB port for charging another device, and I was pleased to note that the quality seemed to be very good. In fact, the trouble area at the junction between the wire and the charging plug is not as bendable as the stock one, and seems to be quite a bit more sturdy. It also appears to charge my device slightly faster than the stock one, and I am planning on using it as the primary charger for a while, since it seems like it will travel better and be more useful since it seems to charge up a little faster.
It's also worth mentioning that, unlike some other budget chargers I've seen, there's no humming noise coming from anywhere on the device when plugged in. It seems to be very well-made, and I plan to check out more of the products from Egoway in the future. The company seems to be quite responsive as well, so I suspect customer service will be good, although hopefully unnecessary in most situations. I think they're probably in a rather different time-zone than the US, since they seem not to be really active during US business hours, so do keep that in mind if you have to contact the company. Thus far, I'm quite satisfied with the quality of this charger, and am looking forward to checking out their options for my other devices.
My Old Neighbor Abbie Gonzalez say Adequate; which is sometimes all I want or need..
Egoway sent me one of these chargers in exchange for writing a review on. Amazon. Ego way said I could give whatever rating I wanted. I really wanted to test that and find something wrong with it, so I kept it a month to avoid only providing a first impression. So here are the pros and cons for the charger.
I'll start with cons, both of which are honestly inconsequential:
-the power cord that connects to the wall is short but can be swapped with a longer one. It's less than useful when traveling because it hangs out of the AC socket instead of laying flat on the floor. It easily swapped out for a longer one and I cant imagine anyone without extras.
-sometimes the charger does not have good connection with the Surface book It use. So I plug it in again. Charge light is on the side instead of the top but that’s mostly nit-picky.
The Pro:
- Looks almost exactly Like the original
- Same specs as original
- Has the USB charger like the original
- There is a little clip on the wire to make it easy to wrap up.
- The price. THE PRICE. New OEM is $99 from Microsoft. This is $29.
- Safely turned off when I intentionally overloaded a circuit. Or at least I'm certain it did because it still works. The OEM one crackles instead.
If this were $99, I would consider giving it 4-stars. Yes because of the short cord. Go big or go home, right? But it's $29. At that price I would give it 5 stars even if it were ugly or took longer to charge.
My Old Man Deb Shirley say Not compatable with touchpad.
If you want to be irritated and frustrated beyond all imagination, by all means order this piece of crap! For some reason I can't comprehend, it practically disables the touchpad. I'm sorry, but not being able to use my mouse when it is plugged in is not something I can live with. Now if you never use your mouse, go for it. But if you do, look elsewhere for another power cord.
My friend Dave Kitchens say Charger doesn't appear to work.
I ordered this charger on Saturday as I'm on a week-long work trip and forgot to pack my second surface charger. I didn't need it until Monday so the shipping worked out perfectly and the price was/is great.
I plugged it in before I went to bed and didn't think twice about it. Much to my surprise, when I woke up, the computer was still ~half a charge and the light on the charger was not lit up.
I fortunately have a client laptop/charger as well as access to someone else's surface charger (part time) that is getting me by, but I may have to find a microsoft store to pick up a charger that works.
I have tried in multiple outlets (that have charged other devices, as well as my surface, without issue) As you can see from the attached video, if I hold it just right, the charging light comes on, but you can also see in the tray, the laptop isn't getting any power. I have also rebooted the surface just in case that was the issue.
I will happily accept and change my review if there is some user error, because I understand that's always a possibility, but I've troubleshot in most ways I could think of with no success
My Old Fellow Techccessory tell us Excellent Replacement Charger!.
When you receive the item, it comes in a very simple, brown box with no logo on it. In the pictures above, that is everything that you get. The 6 feet ac adapter with the built in USB port is exactly like the other Surface Pro chargers. I really appreciate that Egoway didn't skip out on that. This is also a cheaper alternative replacement charger compared to some other chargers. This charger, in my opinion, is excellent. It does the job and works just as advertised.
From my experience, this charger doesn't get too hot and doesn't produce a whirring noise like some other chargers. It's easy to carry around and won't prove a problem for portability. So far I haven't run into any problems with it and I'm hoping that it will last for a very long time. A unique feature is the Overload cut-off, which helps to make sure that your device isn't overcharged. This helps preserve your battery life on your device in the long run.
Overall, this is a good choice and it's a cheaper alternative. It's also cheap to replace in case you misplace it. I would recommend this as one of your choices.
My friend Skypup say Does NOT! Overheat!!!.
This is my third Surface Pro. The previous power adapters from Microsoft kept overheatin during charging. Not only did the adapers overheat but they caused the computer to overheat. The other PLUS is the speed in which it took to do a complete charge from 25% to 100%. The older ones took anywhere from one and a half hours to 2plus hours while the new one is less than an hour.
My friend Elisa said I don't know why I ever by from Egoway. Ever..
I've used stuff from Egoway before to replace chargers and my general stance on their products is that they don't last longer than ~5 months and they're not the greatest quality. But I bought from them again because I was in a pinch for school and I needed something cheap (emphasis on cheap) to hold me over until I could get an actual charger from Microsoft from Ebay or something.
So, right out of the box, the position of the charger is buggy. I can plug it in and it won't charge until I move the chord around a bit. Also, I didn't think it had a light on it for when it charges. I figured they just didn't put one in and I didn't think too much about it. But they did, and it will sometimes light up? Maybe about 3 out of 10 times it will light up. Or something less than that, like 2.5 out of 10 because it won't stay lit up on some occasions, especially when the chord happens to move out of its sweet spot.
But, for now, it works. With a little jiggling it gets the job done. I may continue to use it just to see how long it lasts. If it lasts past a year, I'll stay with 3 stars. Less than a year, I'm updating this review with only 2 stars. If it's less than 5 months, 1 star.
My Old Fellow Lexy Shauers say Incredible Price for a Great Product.
I have a surface book 2. My old charger was starting to get a hole in the outside of the cord. I always take care of these problems after the fact instead of proactively. This time, I thought ahead. 😂 This charger was way cheaper than other options and, so far, I haven't sacrificed anything for the cost difference. It works just as quickly as the original that came with my laptop. The profile is small and doesn't get in the way. There are two options for cord length depending on what you plug into the power brick. I'm still not sure why you would want to use the shorter option, but it's there if you want it. There is a clip that lets you wrap up the cord easily and keeps it from getting kinked and broken. There is also a 12 month warranty. This has worked great for me so far an do hope it continues to. For now, I'm incredibly happy with this.
My Old Chap walter escudero experience Charger didn’t last a week, generated electrical sparks. Skip this and get one from Microsoft..
I’m a college student who wanted to replace their withering surface pro 3 charger that’s been through some difficult times. I didn’t want to pay the full price for Microsoft’s first party chargers since I’m planning on getting a new laptop soon, so I decided to save a few bucks and get a cheaper charger. Well, this charger didn’t even last a full week. It seemed to work really well the first few days and I was happy with having a seemingly new and fully functional charger. After about 5 days I noticed the charger wasn’t charging in the standard orientation, but I flipped it over and it seemed to work fine. Today, the charger wasn’t working at all, and after pressing it into the charging port and flipping it over a few times, the charger generated a few electrical sparks. My surface was luckily ok, and needless to say I threw the charger out immediately. I regret my purchase. If you want a replacement charger just fork up the cash upfront for a Microsoft branded one that will not only work as expected, but also won’t pose an electrical hazard to your surface and more importantly yourself.
My friend Valerie tell us So glad I got this - like the different style of the plug in.
This charger got here super fast (thanks prime) and works fine, plus I like that there is an additional plug so you can attach the bulkier part of the charger to the plug in directly and avoid having cables hanging around (or getting strained because of the weight which happens). Also, it is less than half the price of the microsoft one. Hope it will last a long time.
My surface charger started having an issue last weekend, and it would charge intermittently or would stop charging and I had to play with the cable to fix it. I looked into microsoft support since the laptop is not even a year old, and I would have had to ship the charger out and be without until they fix it and sent it back. I am working remotely still and I really need my laptop to work (and charge) properly. I am glad I got this, and I used it right away as soon as received (so now I have this in the office, and the other that sometimes does not work properly in my living room lol).
