For my use, the pad does a great job of cooling my laptop. After about 10 months of use, I noticed extra noise coming from the pad, especially upon restarting the laptop after it had been turned off for a few hours. Being an engineer, I had to investigate. (I was concerned there might be a bad fan bushing that would mean the end of the cooling pad was likely soon.) My Old Man Samson Wick experience Great for gaming, overall a lot of laptop for the price. Overview: This machine does a pretty good job living up to its advertised capabilities. This review is based on my impressions after a couple of days with the unit - I may update it later if anything relevant occurs long-term. Testing Methodology: I don't have a lot of sophistocated instruments for measuring the actual brightness, color gamut etc... In general I stuck to sofware based tests and my somewhat subjective eyeballs. Construction: The top (back of the screen) is metal, as is keyboard and palm-rest area, the screen bezel and bottom are plastic. This was a pretty good design decision as it keeps the bottom from turning into a hotplate in your lap. The hinge feels solid and moves very smoothly. Screen: The screen is rated about 300 nits. I bought this to replace my Optimum provided cable modem, but immediately after I installed it, I started having issues with Hulu, Netflix and all video streams. I had problems everywhere. On the FireTV, AppleTV, everywhere. It turns out this modem is a little outdated and doesn't work with Eero and you can't update its firmware so they recommend buying another modem. My friend Bob said Does not work with Dell computers.. I purchased this to go into my travel bag because it was advertised to work with a Dell Inspiron computer. On my first trip I about depleted my computer battery on the plane. At the hotel I tried to recharge the battery. The computer gave an error condition reporting that the power supply was not Dell compatible and the computer simply would not recharge. Upon close examination, the plug on the power supply was *similar* and would plug into the computer, but it was not the same plug as on the original charger. Deceptive advertising! And from an "Amazon Choice"!. My Fellow mimito5x said Great Battery! Computer running very well!. Received battery in great condition. My battery problems on my Dell Inspiron Laptop were immediately addressed! I kept getting warnings that my battery was not working up to par, and that I needed another 45 W Adaptor. Set up wasn’t too hard if you have general knowledge it is a breeze. I did have an issue with one of my units being recognized. I reached out to tech-support and they were a joke. I ended up figuring out the issue on my own. The phone in tech-support is my only negative experience with these units. They cover my entire home and probably three doors down from me and still getting a strong signal.
