Anker Charger PowerDrive iPhone Nexus
My Old Chap Eric Burgdorf tell us Unsafe, Shorted/Smoked/Melted.
Used almost daily for 2 1/2 years with no problems. Yesterday, without warning and within 2 minutes of driving, melted down & filled car with smoke & burning-plastic smell. Prior to it failing - I would have rated it a 5 star. If you have one of these - keep an eye on it as this can & did happen.

UPDATE: Anker contacted me almost immediately after I posted this review. In two days I had a new Car Charger, and so far it is working perfectly. I cannot recommend Anker products highly enough. Everything we have purchased fro Anker has been of excellent quality, and this one unit that had a problem was promptly replaced with excellent customer service help.
Original Review: This charger, along with 1/2 dozen Anker cords, has been amazing. I have 2 of the chargers. However yesterday my daughter told me the charger was draining her battery on the lower port. I knew she couldn't be correct, so today I plugged in my phone at 40%. It dropped immediately to 39%. No worries, the lightening bolt showed it was charging. Then the app I was loading kept resetting. Next I noticed the power was 38%, then 37. What?? I switched the power cord into the upper port and opened my Amazon app to see the reviews. It was interesting to see someone else felt it was resetting their phone or an app as well. It's been about 7 minutes and my phone has gone from 37 to 48% on that time using the top port. I am sure Anker will make it good, but I wanted to share this as a review in case someone else experiences the same thing. Overall I love Anker products and I will continue to buy them without question, but I expect both ports to charge. I can't say if this occurred before or if it is a new issue. Perhaps we've only used the top charger successfully, because I know we've had two phones plugged in many times.

Used it one time yesterday morning to charge my phone on my commute to work. It worked great and charged it very quickly to full from less than half battery life. After work I plug my phone back in but I don't see the charging icon on my phone. I check the charger and there's no light. Unplugged and replugged it back in several times and tried another port but no dice. I still had the old charger and I tried that and it works in both ports. Doesn't look like there's a fuse so no use in trying to open it. Pretty certain it's dead.

***UPDATE***
I was able to fix my cigarette lighter port by replacing the fuse in my fuse box. Anker also got ahold of me and sent me a free upgraded replacement for the broken piece I was left with. They took the serial number from me as well stating that they trace the defective parts of their product. Good on Anker for helping me fix the issue!

Used this product for an accumulative 5 hours over two days only charging a single phone. It worked well when it did, but when I went to use it another time the light on it wouldn't turn on and it didn't supply power to my phone. Tried it in another port and the same result. Grabbed my big bulky charger to test each port and sure enough the one that I used it in doesn't work at all now, and the one it never touched when it was working is still fine.

Charges phone, but causes phone to reset almost every time I unplug it, especially if I turn the car off before unplugging it. Sometimes it doesn't even need to be unplugged before resetting, just does it randomly. Never had this issue with a car charger before. I thought maybe it could be the cable, until I had a friend plug their cable in as well and their phone also reset. I already got rid of the packaging so I don't suppose I can return it. Waste of money.

Responsive and polite customer service! They contacted me right away seeking a resolution. I don't know that I can recommend this specific model but the company seems very good and I am sure the new products are more secure, hence I put the stars to a neutral level.
** Original issue**
This has been the most reliable charger I have owned. Unfortunately after about 10 months of occasional use it had a melt down while I was going down the free way filling the entire car with acrid smoke, no damage to the car just a startling event.

Edit: the company sent me a new unit after seeing my previous review. It had the same performance. I checked many cables and it looks like the cable can impact the performance. I still don't get 2A, but at least now is charges faster than the phone used energy.
I haven't had time to check multiple device conditions or long term, but performance is ok.
I recommend everyone get a usb current measure device to check their chargers capability.

Doesn't charge as advertised. Says 2A 24W but this won't on my s7.
Had an s5 before and this was ok. My s7 says my phone is discharging faster than charging.
I have a current measurement usb device I bought off Amazon.
This starts at 0.8A but quickly drops to 0.3A.
5V and 0.3A is only 1.5W.
And I tried both ports and this is only 1 device plugged in.

I ordered this charger after the 12W charger I had been using in my car stopped working. I was very excited, expecting this one to charge my devices twice as fast. I almost always use a navigation app on my phone when I drive, and that is a big battery drain. My old charger would charge my phone very slowly when I was using that app, gaining a percent of charge about every 10 minutes. Well, with this charger, my phone LOSES a percent of charge every two minutes while I'm using the navigation app. Since so many of the reviews for this product praise the fast charging speed, I decided to give Anker the benefit of the doubt. I ordered one of their cables to use with the charging unit, since the Anker cables are supposed to allow for the fastest charging speed. Unfortunately, swapping out the cable made no difference in the rate of charging.
If you want to use a navigation app on your phone while you drive, don't waste your money on this unit. You're better off grabbing a charger from a convenience store.
My Old Man Amazon Customer tell us Charger stopped charging.
I bought this charger in November. I use it at work for a couple of hours three days a week.
Last night it stopped charging. I tried it with another cable and in another cigarette lighter and it still didn't work. I plugged it in again later and it charged for a while.
As you can see in the picture, it was getting hot. I never felt it hot. I don't know when the damage to the case occurred. How can we solve this problem with the broken charger?

As soon as I connected my iPhone 8 Plus, a message is displayed on my iPhone informing me that the charger is a non-Apple certified device and it's not functional in charging my iPhone. A waste of money for me.

The seller really wanted to make my purchase right. After contacting me to suggest I try a different Lightning charging cable and to obtain more information regarding the error message on my iPhone, I followed the directions and forwarded a screen shot from my iPhone to show that it was not charging while connected to the charging adapter and also sent a picture of the adapter plugged into my car. After receiving the pictures I submitted, the seller offered to send me a replacement and upgraded charging adapter. Upon receipt, I tried the new adapter and it worked fine with both my iPhone 8 Plus as well as the new iPhone X. This was an example of great customer service. I really appreciated the communication from the seller to do everything possible to make the transaction right for me. I now have a great product and I expect to make future purchases from this seller.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
